I love photographing people expressing themselves, and there are few events where people are more free to express themselves than pride parades. This series of photographs is from a pride festival I went to in Salt Lake City, Utah. Pride has a special significance there. The dominance of the Mormon church makes being gay, bisexual, or any other non-heterosexual sexual orientation arduous. The year I attended, a group of Mormons called Mormons Building Bridges walked in the parade for the first time ever.
